Built to WCAG 2.1 AA, and checked against it.

1. Standard

ssx360.com is built to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA, the standard the United States Access Board's Section 508 rule and the Department of Justice's web rule for public entities point to. The site is not itself subject to either rule; the standard is adopted because the people who review a research proposer's public presence expect it.

2. Measures

• One h1 per page, real heading elements in order, landmark regions and a skip link as the first focusable control.
• Text contrast of at least 4.5:1 and interface-component contrast of at least 3:1 against the surface it sits on, measured against the dark ground and the paper sheets.
• A visible focus ring on every interactive element, at 3:1 or better against its surroundings.
• Layouts that reflow to 320 CSS pixels without horizontal scrolling; wide tables and code scroll inside their own box.
• Pointer targets of at least 44 by 44 CSS pixels for primary controls and 24 by 24 for secondary ones.
• Motion that respects the reduced-motion preference; nothing flashes, nothing auto-plays sound.
• Forms with visible labels, error text that names the field and the fix, and autocomplete hints where the browser can help.
• Link text that says where it goes; images with alternative text or marked decorative.
• Self-hosted fonts with metric-matched system fallbacks, so text is readable before and without the web fonts.
• A print stylesheet on every document page, so the record prints as a plain typeset document.

Every route is checked automatically at 320, 390, 768, 1440 and 2560 pixels with reduced motion enabled, for horizontal overflow, text below 11 pixels, heading structure and axe-core rule violations, before a deploy.

3. Known limitations

• The scheduling embed on the booking route is served by a third party (Cal.com) and its accessibility is theirs to maintain; the contact form remains the primary path and works without it.
• The typeset PDFs are produced by a LaTeX toolchain that embeds fonts and document metadata but does not yet emit tagged PDF. Every document is also published as an HTML page with the same content.
• The film-grain and starfield textures are decorative layers; they are removed in print and hidden from assistive technology, and they do not carry information.
